Meloche Group history

Réjean Meloche, founder of Meloche in 1974, is a young, inventive and visionary machinist. One day, he fortuitously comes upon a warehouse filled with abandoned machining equipment. He then anticipates what the future could hold and works tirelessly to find sufficient financing to buy the building. Meloche Machine Shop is then born and is soon operating at full capacity. 90% of the company sales stem from Dominion Textile at the time.

Over the years Groupe Meloche is taken to new heights through diversification, by opening new premises, purchasing new companies and welcoming young and dynamic associates. Réjean Meloche’s vision was always one that invested effectively in human capital, and this always proved successful.

Today, the company specializes in precision machining, surface treatment, painting and assembly and manufacturing engineering for the aerospace industry and the defence industry. Groupe Meloche owns four manufacturing sites near Montreal (Quebec, Canada) including one in Bromont and a head office in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield. The company employs 150 individuals, with more than 30 CNC turning and machining centres. The company stands out as an important element in the aerospace industry in Quebec.

On May 1, 2009, Réjean Meloche’s son Hugue Meloche officially takes over as President and CEO. This appointment successfully concluded a company transfer and succession process that began in 2004.

For almost thirty years, Réjean Meloche applied his own mantra to the administration of his company: “Success is guaranteed when you do something you love!” Today, Hugue Meloche carries the tradition as the head of a flourishing business that still builds on solid values.
